As one of the largest bank holding companies in the US, US Bancorp does a pretty good job of living up to its name. The bank has $403 billion in assets, and owns U.S. Bank (the US's 5th largest commercial bank) and other subsidiaries that provide consumer and commercial loans, deposits, and credit cards, as well as merchant processing, mortgage banking, trust and investment management, brokerage services, insurance, and corporate payments. The bank has more than 3,000 branches and nearly 5,000 ATMs in 25 states in the Midwest and West, including one of the most extensive networks of branches inside grocery stores. Commercial loans account for roughly 30% of its total loan portfolio, and commercial real estate loans, 15%.
